Era 4 — Pareidolia
The Pareidolia Era marked the beginning of humanity’s direct contact with the deepest cosmic anomalies within the Omicron Galaxy. During this period, exploration into corrupted and uncharted regions accelerated rapidly, leading to discoveries that permanently altered the balance of power throughout the galaxy.
Unlike previous eras focused primarily on warfare and political conflict, Pareidolia became defined by cosmic exploration, forbidden knowledge, dimensional instability, and humanity’s growing exposure to forces beyond conventional understanding.
The era began with major Hell Hosts expeditions into the Farlands in search of advanced technology, ancient relics, and new power sources capable of strengthening their expanding empire. These expeditions soon revealed the horrifying scale of Element 95 corruption and introduced humanity to numerous hostile entities, corrupted worlds, and fanatical groups such as The Far Taken.
As exploration pushed deeper beyond known space, contact was eventually made with the ancient Void Civilizations inhabiting the Voidlands, including the Reality Weavers, Riftborn, The Anchorless Caste, and Dominion Keepers. These discoveries exposed the galaxy to technologies and realities far beyond modern scientific understanding.
The era also saw the discovery of The Forge, a mysterious structure or location containing advanced technologies and immense power. Access to the Forge dramatically accelerated military and technological development across several factions.
At the same time, catastrophic events such as the Valcara PrimeIncident revealed the growing danger of uncontrolled experimentation involving corruption, biological mutation, and anomalous materials. The rise of Gravewatch and the appearance of Revenants marked the beginning of a new age of biohazard and anomaly warfare.
The era reached a major turning point when Destiny and Scyther became trapped within the Voidlands and later emerged transformed through contact with forces connected to The Veil. Their ascension marked one of the earliest known examples of higher Element 95 consciousness evolution.
By the end of the Pareidolia Era, the galaxy had fully entered an age where reality itself could no longer be trusted.
