Riftborn

The Riftborn are one of the four dominant Void Civilizations inhabiting the Voidlands, known for their adaptation to fractured realities, unstable dimensional environments, and constantly shifting spatial anomalies. Unlike the structured philosophies of the Reality Weavers or the militarized expansion of the Dominion Keepers, the Riftborn evolved through survival within the most unstable regions of the Voidlands.

The civilization is centered around the shattered world of Shatterwake, a planet fragmented into thousands of drifting shards, each containing its own gravitational laws, atmosphere, environment, and flow of time. Entire ecosystems exist across these fragments, ranging from frozen wastelands and burning deserts to regions where reality itself continuously collapses and reforms.

The Riftborn have adapted to these conditions over countless ages, developing the ability to alter and reshape their forms depending on the shard they inhabit. Because of this, many outside civilizations consider them unpredictable and deeply unsettling to encounter.

Unlike many Void societies, the Riftborn possess no unified appearance or biological standard. Their bodies constantly shift in response to environmental instability, dimensional pressure, and nearby Void fractures. Some appear vaguely humanoid, while others possess heavily distorted or asymmetrical forms impossible to classify.

Riftborn society values adaptability above all else. Strength is measured not through conquest or knowledge, but through one’s ability to survive impossible conditions and endure reality itself breaking apart. Their culture is heavily decentralized, with various shard-clans controlling different regions of Shatterwake.

The civilization is infamous for utilizing Rift-based weaponry, unstable dimensional technology, and fracture manipulation during combat. Riftborn forces often appear suddenly through spatial tears before disappearing back into unstable Void corridors.

Rumors persist that one of the drifting shards of Shatterwake contains an ancient weapon capable of slicing apart entire planets, though no confirmed evidence of its existence has ever been recovered.
