Anchorless Caste
The Anchorless Caste is one of the four dominant Void Civilizations inhabiting the Voidlands, known for their deep connection to fluid dimensional space, gravitational drift, and the endless black oceans of Astral Shear. Unlike the highly structured Reality Weavers or the militarized Dominion Keepers, the Anchorless Caste exists in a far more detached and enigmatic state, rarely interacting directly with outsiders unless provoked.
The civilization primarily inhabits Astral Shear, an endless ocean world covered in black reflective waters, violent gravitational tides, and abyssal storms capable of distorting both matter and perception. Massive floating structures drift endlessly across the oceans, many appearing partially submerged between dimensions.
The Anchorless believe existence itself should remain fluid and unbound. To them, permanence is considered weakness, while adaptation and drift are viewed as the natural state of reality. Their society lacks fixed cities, borders, or centralized government in the traditional sense, instead operating through vast drifting collectives connected through unknown psychic and gravitational phenomena.
Members of the Anchorless Caste are believed to possess highly unstable physical forms, with reports describing their bodies as constantly shifting between liquid, solid, and shadow-like states. Some explorers claim prolonged exposure to Astral Shear causes individuals to gradually “lose their anchor,” resulting in severe identity distortion and psychological collapse.
Despite their seemingly passive nature, the Anchorless Caste is considered extremely dangerous. Their control over gravitational currents, dimensional tides, and oceanic Void anomalies allows them to destroy fleets without direct confrontation.
Very little is understood regarding the true origins of the civilization, though some theories suggest the Anchorless may be among the oldest surviving inhabitants of the Voidlands.
