Act 7 — Angel Swords’ Rise

Era: Beauty of Annihilation (Era 2)
Previous: Act 6 — Hell Host Rise to Power
Next: Act 8

Overview

Act 7 follows the rise of the Angel Swords as one of the dominant military and religious powers within the Omicron Galaxy.

Unlike the relatively young Hell Hosts, the Angel Swords are an ancient civilization with a history stretching back thousands of years. Governed by the High Council of Genesis, their society combines military power with religious tradition, sacred warfare, and a strong belief in divine authority.

During this period, the Angel Swords begin learning about the Farlands and the extraordinary power hidden within the region.

Of particular importance is Element 95.

The Angel Swords discover that Element 95 possesses enormous potential as a weapon. Unable to properly control the substance themselves, they nevertheless begin to regard its power as sacred.

Weapons, artifacts, and technologies originating from the Farlands and Voidlands consequently become objects of immense religious and military importance.

This growing obsession brings the Angel Swords into increasing contact with other galactic powers, particularly the Hell Hosts.

Act 7 establishes the Angel Swords as a major modern power and begins laying the foundations for the long conflict between the two factions.

Angel Swords

The Angel Swords existed long before many of the political and military powers that dominate the modern galaxy.

Their territory includes several major worlds throughout the Outer Rim, including Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Joshua.

Their civilization is heavily influenced by religion.

Military service, warfare, ancient artifacts, and the defence or expansion of Angel Sword territory can all possess religious significance.

The faction is governed by the High Council of Genesis, although the exact structure and membership of the Council remain largely undocumented.

By the beginning of Act 7, the Angel Swords already possess an established civilization and military.

The Act therefore does not depict the creation of the Angel Swords.

It depicts their rise into one of the defining military powers of the modern galaxy.

Element 95

The discovery of the Farlands exposes the Angel Swords to knowledge of Element 95 and its extraordinary properties.

They quickly recognise its potential.

Element 95 can produce effects far beyond conventional technology and has the potential to become an extremely powerful weapon.

However, the Angel Swords do not understand how to properly control it.

Rather than discouraging their interest, the immense and poorly understood power of Element 95 contributes to its religious significance.

The substance becomes an object of worship within Angel Sword belief.

Weapons and artifacts created using Element 95 become particularly valuable, especially when they demonstrate levels of control the Angel Swords themselves have been unable to achieve.

This creates a powerful incentive for the faction to search the Farlands and Voidlands for ancient weapons, technology, artifacts, and knowledge.

Sub-Acts

Sub-Act 7.1 — The Holy Empire

The ancient civilization of the Angel Swords is introduced in greater detail.

Their major worlds, military culture, religious traditions, and the authority of the High Council of Genesis establish a civilization considerably older than many of the factions surrounding them.

The Angel Swords already possess substantial military and political influence.

However, their greatest period of modern expansion is only beginning.

Sub-Act 7.2 — Sacred Weapons

The importance of weapons and artifacts within Angel Sword religion is explored.

Ancient technology is not always regarded simply as equipment.

Certain weapons can possess enormous religious significance, particularly when their origins or capabilities connect them to forces the Angel Swords consider sacred.

This belief will eventually become closely connected to their interest in the Farlands and Voidlands.

Sub-Act 7.3 — Into the Farlands

The Angel Swords learn of the Farlands and begin discovering the extraordinary power contained within the region.

Their attention becomes particularly focused upon Element 95.

They discover its enormous potential as a weapon but are unable to properly control it.

Element 95 nevertheless becomes increasingly important within Angel Sword religion, with its power interpreted as something worthy of worship.

The discovery begins a long search for weapons, artifacts, and knowledge originating from the Farlands and Voidlands.

Sub-Act 7.4 — Two Powers

Contact between the Hell Hosts and Angel Swords becomes increasingly significant.

The Angel Swords begin recognising the Hell Hosts as one of the major military powers capable of interfering with their objectives.

Likewise, the Hell Hosts become increasingly aware of the Angel Swords’ determination to acquire ancient and anomalous weaponry.

Soldiers such as Simulacrum begin specialising in understanding and combating Hell Host forces.

The rivalry between the two powers continues developing.

Sub-Act 7.5 — Brothers Divided

The growing divide between the two factions is reflected through individuals caught between them.

Rafael serves within the Angel Swords while his twin brother Magnum aligns himself with the Hell Hosts.

Despite sharing many of the same abilities and the same childhood, the brothers have chosen opposing factions.

Their separation becomes another personal consequence of the growing division between the Hell Hosts and Angel Swords.

Sub-Act 7.6 — Crusade

The Angel Swords continue expanding their military influence.

Religious doctrine, military expansion, and the search for sacred weaponry become increasingly interconnected.

Expeditions and military operations connected to ancient artifacts and anomalous technology become an important part of the faction’s growing power.

The Angel Swords increasingly emerge as a force capable of competing with the largest military powers in the galaxy.

Sub-Act 7.7 — Angel Swords’ Rise

The Angel Swords emerge as one of the dominant powers of the modern Omicron Galaxy.

Their ancient civilization now possesses the military strength, fleets, fortified worlds, and religious motivation necessary to project power far beyond their traditional territory.

Their growing obsession with the Farlands, Voidlands, and Element 95 ensures that this expansion will continue.

At the same time, their relationship with the Hell Hosts continues deteriorating.

The foundations of one of the galaxy’s largest military rivalries have been established.

Themes

Act 7 focuses on faith, power, discovery, and obsession.

The Angel Swords discover something they cannot fully understand or control.

Rather than abandoning it, they worship it.

Element 95 represents both extraordinary potential and enormous danger. The Angel Swords’ inability to control the substance drives their search for ancient weapons and technologies created by those who apparently could.

Their faith and military ambitions consequently become increasingly intertwined.

The Act also establishes the growing rivalry between two very different powers.

The Hell Hosts have risen through military expansion, technology, industry, and enormous organizational growth.

The Angel Swords approach power through an ancient civilization shaped by religion, tradition, crusades, and sacred warfare.

Their interests increasingly lead them toward the same places.

Conflict becomes increasingly difficult to avoid.

Consequences

By the end of Act 7, the Angel Swords have become one of the major military powers of the modern galaxy.

Their discovery of the Farlands and Element 95 establishes an obsession that will influence the faction for generations.

The Angel Swords begin searching for ancient weapons and artifacts throughout the Farlands and Voidlands in the hope of acquiring powers they cannot yet reproduce themselves.

Their increasing military strength also places them into greater competition with the Hell Hosts.

Individual soldiers on both sides begin developing personal connections to the growing rivalry.

The Angel Swords are no longer simply an ancient religious civilization.

They have become a modern galactic superpower.
