Overview
Blood, real name Mason Crowe, is a former bounty hunter turned high-ranking Hell Hosts commander and operative of the 612th Hunters Battalion.
Known for relentless field efficiency, precision aggression, survival instincts, and a deep distrust of weak loyalty, Blood became one of the most dangerous soldiers within the Doom Corps. Unlike many senior officers, he did not rise through traditional military systems. He earned status through results.
Before joining the Hell Hosts, Mason Crowe operated as a bounty hunter across unstable sectors, taking inspiration from the now-extinct Crimson Order. After being abandoned by his own squad and left for dead, he was discovered by Champion and given a second chance within the Hell Hosts.
Blood later vanished after an Ascension-like event in the Ashen Kingdom, where he fell into lava and was transformed rather than killed.
The Ashen Kingdom chose him.
The lava did not burn him.
It crowned him.
Part I — Mason Crowe
Early Life
Mason Crowe was born human and spent much of his childhood travelling with his parents.
His family moved frequently between worlds, exposing him to different cultures, regions, and unstable territories from a young age. One of these journeys brought him to Malgor, a world within the Ashen Kingdom.
There, Mason met Ember, a young Ashen native.
The two formed a close bond during childhood, despite belonging to different worlds and species. Their friendship would become one of the few connections that survived every version of Mason’s life.
Years later, they would meet again.
By then, Mason was no longer only Mason.
He had become Blood.
Bounty Hunter Career
Before joining the Hell Hosts, Mason Crowe worked as a bounty hunter across unstable sectors.
He lived by contracts, coin, survival, and reputation. Loyalty meant little in the bounty networks he operated within. Results mattered more than promises, and survival mattered more than honour.
Crowe became known for accepting difficult contracts and pursuing targets through dangerous environments that other hunters avoided.
He specialised in:
-
Tracking difficult targets
-
Surviving hostile terrain
-
Long-distance pursuit
-
Ambush tactics
-
Precision elimination
-
Irregular combat zones
-
Working without reliable support
This period shaped much of his later personality.
He learned not to rely on promises.
He learned that betrayal often came from the people closest to you.
He learned to keep walking, even when wounded.
Origin of the Name
The name Blood began as a bounty network nickname.
During one infamous contract, Mason Crowe continued pursuing a target after being severely wounded. Most hunters would have abandoned the job or died before reaching the target.
Crowe did neither.
He followed the target across hostile territory while bleeding heavily, refusing treatment until the contract was finished.
By the time the job was completed, the story had already spread.
Hunters began calling him Blood.
At first, it was mockery.
Then it became reputation.
Eventually, it became a warning.
After Crowe later adopted the gas mask style inspired by the Crimson Order, the name took on a second meaning. To bounty hunters, Blood was the man who bled and kept walking. To his enemies, he became a reminder that old legends could survive through new faces.
Crimson Order Influence
Blood took extreme inspiration from the Crimson Order, a powerful and feared organisation whose operatives were known for wearing gas masks.
By the time Mason Crowe became active as a bounty hunter, the Crimson Order had already been destroyed. Its members were hunted down individually until the group became extinct.
Crowe was never a true member of the Crimson Order.
Instead, he adopted elements of their image as both homage and warning.
The gas mask became part of his identity.
To Blood, it represented:
-
Survival
-
Fear
-
Legacy
-
Ruthlessness
-
The memory of a dead order
-
A warning to those who believed legends could be erased
His mask is not simply decoration.
It is a reminder that even destroyed organisations can leave echoes behind.
Betrayal
During a later operation with an unaffiliated squad, Blood was abandoned after a mission went wrong.
His squad left him behind and presumed him dead.
The betrayal became one of the defining wounds of his life.
Blood survived, but the event permanently altered his view of loyalty. From that point forward, he became deeply distrustful of weak bonds, temporary alliances, and people who spoke of loyalty without proving it.
He does not forget betrayal.
He rarely forgives it.
Discovery by Champion
Blood was later discovered alive by Champion.
Champion found what remained of him after the failed operation and recognised his potential. Rather than leaving him to die, Champion brought him into the attention of the Hell Hosts and gave him a second chance.
This moment became one of the most important turning points in Blood’s life.
He no longer worked for contracts.
He no longer hunted for coin.
The Hell Hosts gave him survival, purpose, and structure.
Blood repaid that debt through service.
A quote later associated with him states:
“I don’t take contracts anymore. I take what’s owed.”
Part II — Hell Host Blood
Recruitment into the Hell Hosts
After being recovered by Champion, Blood was recruited into the Hell Hosts.
His background as a bounty hunter made him unsuitable for ordinary military placement, but extremely valuable to specialist operations. His tracking skills, survival instincts, precision, and ability to operate independently made him a natural candidate for the 612th Hunters Battalion.
Champion did not personally place Blood within the 612th, as Champion held no direct connection to the battalion.
Instead, Blood’s own abilities led to his assignment.
The 612th Hunters Battalion turned his bounty hunter instincts into military doctrine.
612th Hunters Battalion
Within the 612th Hunters Battalion, Blood became known for his effectiveness in target-focused operations.
The battalion’s specialist nature suited him far better than standard frontline warfare.
Blood excelled in missions involving:
-
Priority target elimination
-
Tracking enemy leaders
-
Hunting fugitives
-
Long-range pursuit
-
Hostile terrain survival
-
Capture or kill operations
-
Reconnaissance-supported strikes
-
Morale-breaking precision attacks
His old life as a bounty hunter did not disappear.
It became weaponised by the Hell Hosts.
Rise Within the Hell Hosts
Blood quickly proved effective within the Hell Hosts military structure.
He rose through the ranks not through politics, charm, or tradition, but through consistent results in the field.
He became especially valued for his ability to operate away from command politics and complete difficult assignments with minimal oversight.
His promotions were rapid, eventually reaching the rank of Lieutenant General.
Despite his high rank, Blood never fully behaved like a conventional officer.
He remained most comfortable in the field, working close to danger and far from ceremonial command spaces.
Personality
Blood is blunt, pragmatic, quiet, and difficult to read.
He rarely speaks unless necessary and has little patience for performative loyalty, empty speeches, or careless command decisions.
He respects competence above rank and is more likely to trust a reliable soldier than a decorated officer.
Blood is not cruel without reason, but he can be cold, direct, and terrifyingly efficient when he believes a situation demands it.
Common traits include:
-
Blunt honesty
-
Deep loyalty once earned
-
Distrust of weak loyalty
-
Strong survival instincts
-
Pragmatic decision-making
-
Emotional restraint
-
Independent thinking
-
Protective instincts hidden beneath severity
-
A long memory for betrayal
Blood does not easily express care through words.
He expresses it through action.
Combat Style
Blood specialises in precision aggression.
He is not a traditional sniper who waits at extreme distance for a single perfect shot, nor is he a reckless assault soldier who overwhelms through brute force.
Blood identifies the structure holding an enemy force together and removes it piece by piece.
His usual method involves:
-
Locating command figures
-
Eliminating key targets
-
Breaking enemy coordination
-
Forcing panic
-
Disrupting morale
-
Hunting survivors who attempt to regroup
-
Moving before the enemy can adapt
Blood favours controlled violence.
Every shot is intended to change the shape of the battlefield.
Equipment
Blood’s standard Hell Host equipment includes:
-
Tactical combat knife
-
Smoke grenades
-
EMP grenades
-
Tracker beacons
-
Environmental filter system
-
Custom exo-limb support system
-
Modified Hell Host armour
-
Gas mask inspired by the Crimson Order
His equipment reflects his background as a bounty hunter and his role within the 612th Hunters Battalion.
He is built for pursuit, survival, and target elimination.
MR-102E Marksman Rifle
The MR-102E Marksman Rifle is Blood’s primary weapon and one of the defining symbols of his identity.
He used the rifle throughout his Hell Host career, modifying it to suit his aggressive precision-based combat style.
Unlike soldiers who constantly change weapons depending on mission type, Blood remained closely associated with the MR-102E.
It became part of his legend.
Later, after his transformation into the Ashen Lord, the weapon was changed with him.
Appearance
As a human, Mason Crowe had:
-
Black hair
-
Brown eyes
-
White skin tone
As Blood, his appearance became defined by his armour and mask.
He wore dark tactical gear, a hood, and a gas mask inspired by the Crimson Order. His visual identity was intentionally intimidating, combining bounty hunter practicality with the legacy of a destroyed organisation.
His armour was usually black, worn, and heavily modified for field use.
The gas mask became the most recognisable part of him.
To allies, it meant Blood had arrived.
To enemies, it meant the hunt had already begun.
Relationships
Champion
Champion is the reason Blood survived after being abandoned by his former squad.
Although Champion did not personally place Blood into the 612th Hunters Battalion, he was the one who found him and gave him a second chance within the Hell Hosts.
Blood’s loyalty to Champion is rooted in debt, respect, and memory.
Champion found him at one of the lowest points in his life and did not leave him behind.
For Blood, that matters more than any speech about loyalty ever could.
Their bond is not sentimental, but it is powerful.
Champion gave Blood a future.
Blood repaid him with service.
Destiny
Destiny and Blood became extremely close during his time within the 612th Hunters Battalion.
Destiny had heard stories about Blood before growing closer to him. His reputation as a former bounty hunter, Crimson Order-inspired operative, and terrifyingly effective hunter made him seem almost mythic before they truly knew one another.
Through their shared connection to the 612th, that distance faded.
Destiny came to know the person beneath the mask.
Their relationship became one of deep trust, closeness, and unresolved romantic tension. They may have become lovers if not for Blood’s transformation and disappearance.
Before his Ascension event, the two shared a closeness that nearly became something more. A kiss between them marked the possibility of a future that was never allowed to fully exist.
After Blood became the Ashen Lord, that future was shattered.
Destiny did not simply lose a comrade.
She lost someone who might have become far more.
Red Wind
Blood sees Red Wind like a younger sister.
Their relationship is built on quiet care, teasing, and protective familiarity.
Blood understands Red Wind well enough to know when she is pretending not to care about something. He often supplies her with her favourite tea and hot chocolate, even when she insists she does not like them.
She does like them.
He knows.
Blood rarely makes a big emotional display out of it. He simply leaves the drink there, tells her to stop complaining, or hands it to her before she can argue.
To Red Wind, Blood is one of the few people who can be blunt with her without feeling cruel.
To Blood, Red Wind is someone worth looking after, even when she refuses to admit she needs it.
Ember
Ember is one of Blood’s oldest and most important connections.
She was born in the Ashen Kingdom and belongs to the Ashen native race, a humanoid species known for molten, lava-like markings across their skin.
Mason Crowe first met Ember as a child while travelling with his parents to Malgor. The two formed a close friendship before Mason eventually left with his family.
The next time they met, Mason was no longer just the travelling child she remembered.
He had become Blood, a Hell Host operative.
The time after that, he had become the Ashen Lord.
Ember has seen every major version of him:
-
Mason Crowe
-
Blood
-
Ashen Lord Blood
Because of this, she remains one of the few people who can still reach the person underneath every transformation.
Their relationship is platonic and sibling-like rather than romantic. Ember keeps Blood grounded, despite her own cold and distant nature.
There are moments where Blood may stand on the edge of executing someone in cold blood, only for Ember to stop him without speaking.
No argument.
No plea.
Just her presence.
She does not remind him of mercy.
She reminds him of Mason.
Calypso
Calypso is the Ice Queen of the Ice Kingdom and one of the few beings who can understand Blood after his transformation.
Like Blood, Calypso underwent an Ascension-like event that changed her life and turned her into the ruler of an elemental kingdom.
Their relationship is complicated.
Blood is ash and fire.
Calypso is ice and frost.
They are opposites in nature, appearance, and power, yet they understand one another in ways few others can.
Their bond likely became closer than Blood’s relationship with Destiny, not necessarily because it was stronger in every way, but because Calypso was present after his transformation. She knew him as the Ashen Lord, while Destiny was left grieving the man he had been before.
Calypso understands what it means to become a kingdom.
That understanding drew them closer.
Possibly too close.
Destiny and Calypso
Destiny hates Calypso.
Not simply out of jealousy, but because Calypso represents everything Destiny lost access to.
Destiny knew Blood before his transformation. She shared trust, closeness, and nearly romance with him before he vanished into the Ashen Kingdom.
Calypso became close to the version of Blood that existed after.
To Destiny, Calypso is a painful reminder that Blood continued changing, ruling, suffering, and forming connections while Destiny was left behind.
Calypso did not take Blood from her.
But it can feel that way.
Ember’s Kidnapping
Blood and Calypso’s relationship was nearly shattered after Ember was kidnapped by rogue Ice Kingdom loyalists.
The loyalists acted without Calypso’s approval, attempting to harm, alter, or convert Ember due to her connection to the Ashen Kingdom and to Blood.
Calypso denied involvement and returned Ember as soon as she discovered what had happened.
But the damage was already done.
Ember had been exposed to an Ice Kingdom transformation process before being rescued. Although she was not fully converted, the event left permanent effects.
Her molten Ashen markings eventually returned to their usual orange glow after she came back to the Ashen Region, but they were never exactly the same.
At times, parts of her skin feel unnaturally cold.
The places where molten light once burned now sometimes carry a faint blue hue, as if frost remains trapped beneath the ash.
Blood saw the damage as a violation of one of the few people who still knew him completely.
Calypso insisted she had not ordered it.
Blood believed her enough not to declare war.
He did not believe her enough for things to return to how they were.
Some within the Ashen Kingdom suspect the Obsidian Veil may have manipulated events from the shadows, though no proof has ever been found.
Part III — Ashen Lord Blood
Ashen Kingdom Incident
Blood’s final known Hell Host deployment led him to the Ashen Kingdom.
During the incident, Blood fell into lava.
He should have died.
Instead, the Ashen Kingdom chose him.
The lava did not burn away his body. It transformed him, binding him to the ancient power beneath the kingdom and remaking him into something greater than human.
His survival was not natural.
It was selection.
The kingdom saw potential in him and made him its ruler.
From that moment onward, Mason Crowe was no longer only Blood.
He became Ashen Lord Blood.
Transformation
Blood’s transformation changed his body, armour, weapon, and presence.
The man who emerged from the lava was still recognisably Blood, but altered by ash, fire, and ancient power.
His armour became darker, heavier, and cracked with molten light. His cloak appeared burned and smoke-worn. His visor and eyes glowed with volcanic intensity.
The transformation did not erase his past.
It reforged it.
Blood’s old weapon, the MR-102E Marksman Rifle, transformed with him, becoming an ashen version of the rifle he had carried as a Hell Host operative.
Every shot burns.
Ashen Lord
As the Ashen Lord, Blood became the ruler of the Ashen Kingdom.
His title is not merely political.
It is spiritual, military, and elemental.
He commands ash, fire, and volcanic fury, while also holding authority over the kingdom that chose him.
The Ashen Kingdom did not accept him because he was gentle.
It accepted him because he endured betrayal, death, fire, and transformation without breaking.
Blood became sovereign not by inheritance, but by survival.
Powers and Influence
As Ashen Lord, Blood possesses abilities and influence far beyond his former human limits.
Known traits include:
-
Command over ash and fire
-
Volcanic energy manipulation
-
Enhanced physical resilience
-
Increased strength and endurance
-
Resistance to extreme heat
-
Authority over Ashen forces
-
A willpower capable of dominating weaker minds
-
A presence that inspires fear and obedience
-
Possible connection to the ancient forces beneath the Ashen Kingdom
His power is not clean or elegant.
It burns.
Relationship with the Hell Hosts
Blood’s relationship with the Hell Hosts after his transformation is complicated.
He wants to believe they are searching for him.
He wants to believe Champion, Destiny, and the people he served beside have not abandoned him.
But from the Ashen Kingdom, he sees no signs.
No rescue.
No recovery operation.
No proof that anyone is coming.
For Blood, abandonment is not an old fear.
It is the wound that made him.
At first, he waited.
Then he doubted.
Then the silence began to feel familiar.
Blood does not openly declare himself an enemy of the Hell Hosts, but his loyalty is no longer simple.
Part of him still remembers what the Hell Hosts gave him.
Another part wonders whether he was only valuable while he belonged to them.
Current Status
Blood is officially listed as Missing in Action by the Hell Hosts.
His last known location is the Ashen Kingdom.
Whether the Hell Hosts fully understand what happened to him remains uncertain.
To the Hell Hosts, Blood may be a missing Lieutenant General.
To the Ashen Kingdom, he is their sovereign.
To Destiny, he is someone she lost.
To Calypso, he is someone who understands.
To Ember, he is still Mason Crowe.
The Three Who Remember Him
Blood’s life is shaped by three major relationships, each connected to a different version of who he is.
| Character | What She Represents |
|---|---|
| Ember | Mason Crowe, the child beneath every transformation |
| Destiny | Blood, the Hell Host soldier and the future that almost happened |
| Calypso | Ashen Lord Blood, the ruler he became after transformation |
Each sees a different version of him.
All three are right.
Reputation
As a Bounty Hunter
Blood was known as a relentless contract hunter who survived jobs others refused.
He was feared not because he was loud, but because he did not stop.
As a Hell Host
Within the Hell Hosts, Blood was respected for his field results, target elimination, and ability to complete difficult missions with minimal oversight.
He was not the most politically polished officer, but he was one of the most effective.
As the Ashen Lord
As the Ashen Lord, Blood is feared as a sovereign of fire and ash.
He is no longer simply a soldier.
He is a ruler, a weapon, and a symbol of the Ashen Kingdom’s will.
