Hell Host Battalions
The Hell Hosts maintain thousands of military formations spread across numerous branches, divisions, fleets, planetary garrisons, and specialist commands.
Among these are highly specialized battalions designed for environments, enemies, technologies, and missions that conventional military formations are poorly equipped to handle.
Some have become famous throughout the Omicron Galaxy due to major campaigns, unusual equipment, exceptional battlefield records, famous commanders, or the highly specific nature of their operations.
This page documents several of the most notable Hell Host battalions.
It does not represent the complete Hell Host order of battle.
Doom Corps and Eradication Formations
660th Flame Battalion “The Hell Igniters”
Branch: Doom Corps
Division: Eradication Division
Specialty: Incendiary Warfare / Close-Quarters Clearing
The 660th Flame Battalion, commonly known as the Hell Igniters, is one of the most recognizable incendiary formations within the Hell Hosts.
Despite its equipment, the battalion does not belong to the Fire Division. Instead, it operates as part of the Doom Corps’ Eradication Division.
Hell Igniters specialize in environments where conventional infantry weapons are poorly suited to completely clearing hostile positions. Bunkers, tunnels, enclosed facilities, fortified structures, biological infestations, and dense urban environments are common operational zones.
The battalion is also deployed during larger Eradication operations where widespread destruction of hostile biological material or contaminated environments has been authorized.
Typical Equipment
1000th Scuba Battalion “1000 Leagues Under the Sea”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Underwater Warfare / Submerged Operations
The 1000th Scuba Battalion is a specialist aquatic combat formation designed for operations beneath oceans and other large bodies of liquid.
Its personnel receive training in underwater navigation, submerged combat, pressure hazards, underwater demolition, hostile aquatic environments, and assaults against submerged installations.
The battalion’s equipment is extensively sealed and modified for underwater use.
Despite its somewhat humorous nickname, 1000 Leagues Under the Sea, the battalion is heavily equipped due to the extraordinary hazards encountered during deep-water military operations.
Typical Equipment
- Environmentally sealed 94CAR
- Environmentally sealed CR-556
- P2 PSP
- PX20
- Aquatic H245 LCG variants
- Diving propulsion systems

324th Ice Battalion “Arctic Legion”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Extreme Cold Warfare
The 324th Ice Battalion, better known as the Arctic Legion, specializes in warfare across frozen planets and other extreme low-temperature environments.
Its personnel operate across glaciers, frozen oceans, cryogenic facilities, blizzards, polar wastelands, and worlds where conventional military equipment rapidly becomes unreliable.
Arctic Legion armor incorporates advanced thermal regulation, environmental sealing, anti-freezing systems, and emergency life-support equipment.
Older records claimed that Arctic Legion suits could function at temperatures approaching -1,000°C. This figure is physically impossible and is now generally regarded as either an erroneous historical specification or an exaggerated description of the armor’s cryogenic resistance.
The actual operational limits of modern Arctic Legion equipment vary by suit configuration.
Typical Equipment
- 94CAR
- CR-556
- 365 SPAR
- HB245 Incendiary Grenade

Their armor is designed to resist sand infiltration and prolonged exposure to intense heat while reducing the thermal signature generated by soldiers and their equipment.
Dust Reapers are particularly experienced in long-range skirmishing where open terrain provides little natural cover.
Typical Equipment
- Sand-sealed combat armor
- Long-range rifles
- Thermal dampening systems
- Dust-resistant optics
- Extended water and survival systems
079th Volcanic Assault Battalion “Lava Stalkers”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Volcanic Warfare
The 079th Volcanic Assault Battalion specializes in environments dominated by volcanic activity, unstable tectonic conditions, extreme heat, and dangerous atmospheric contamination.
Known as the Lava Stalkers, its personnel operate near magma flows, active volcanic facilities, geothermal installations, and burning industrial zones.
Their equipment incorporates heavy thermal shielding and specialized footwear capable of surviving surfaces that would rapidly destroy ordinary military equipment.
The battalion notably participated in the Hell Host assault on the Angel Sword Forge Reactor.
518th Radiation Waste Battalion “Radwalkers”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Radiological Warfare / Contaminated Environments
The 518th Radiation Waste Battalion, or Radwalkers, is trained to operate within environments contaminated by extreme radiation and hazardous industrial materials.
Personnel use sealed armor incorporating radiation shielding, contamination monitoring, independent life support, and extensive decontamination systems.
The battalion has previously been deployed to clear research sites destroyed by Free World nuclear attacks.
Typical Equipment
- Radiation-resistant combat armor
- Independent breathing systems
- Plasma-assisted specialist weapons
- Radiation sensors
- Decontamination equipment
Hunter, Reconnaissance, and Covert Formations
612th Hunters Battalion
Nickname: The Reapers Division
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: HVT Pursuit / Reconnaissance / Target Elimination
The 612th Hunters Battalion is a specialist pursuit formation trained to locate and eliminate high-value targets across an enormous range of environments.
Hunters may pursue targets through cities, wilderness, hostile planets, active battlefields, or territory far behind enemy lines.
Rather than overwhelming targets through conventional military force, the battalion emphasizes tracking, patience, reconnaissance, infiltration, and precision elimination.
Notable personnel have included Kira Rhenford and Alec Vandrix.
The older nickname “Reapers Division” remains in use among some personnel, although the unit is formally a battalion and has no connection to The Reapers Association.
722nd Sniper Recon Battalion “Ghostwatch”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Long-Range Reconnaissance / Precision Fire
The 722nd Sniper Recon Battalion, commonly called Ghostwatch, specializes in extreme-range observation and precision engagement.
Ghostwatch teams frequently operate far from conventional forces, observing enemy movements and providing precision support to other Hell Host units.
Its personnel make extensive use of advanced optics, camouflage systems, reconnaissance equipment, and heavy precision weapons.
Victor Rhenford and Elias Virek have both served within Ghostwatch.
Typical Equipment
- 333 HCS
- 558 Cycler Sniper Rifle
- M138G
- Advanced optics
- Active camouflage systems
305th Telemetry Recon Battalion “Long Eyes”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Battlefield Intelligence / Sensor Warfare
The 305th Telemetry Recon Battalion, nicknamed Long Eyes, specializes in understanding the battlefield rather than directly dominating it.
Its personnel establish sensor networks, coordinate reconnaissance drones, track hostile formations, map terrain, monitor communications, and distribute battlefield information to other units.
Long Eyes has repeatedly identified enemy movements before conventional reconnaissance forces encountered them.
The battalion’s most important weapon is information.
Samuel Ardyn serves as a battlefield systems controller within the unit.
Typical Equipment
- Reconnaissance drones
- Sensor grids
- Long-range scanners
- Battlefield telemetry systems
- Target-designation equipment
004th Shadow Prime Battalion “Night Phantoms”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Infiltration / Sabotage / Assassination / Deep Operations
The 004th Shadow Prime Battalion, commonly known as the Night Phantoms, is an elite covert operations formation specializing in missions deep inside hostile territory.
Where conventional Hell Host forces overwhelm enemy positions, the Night Phantoms are intended to bypass those positions entirely.
Typical operations include:
- Deep infiltration
- Sabotage
- Covert reconnaissance
- Intelligence recovery
- Strategic asset destruction
- Targeted assassination
- Communications disruption
- Hostile facility penetration
- Prisoner recovery
- Preparation for larger military assaults
Night Phantom teams generally operate in small groups rather than as massed infantry.
Nanite Camouflage
One of the defining technologies associated with the 004th is its nanite-assisted camouflage system.
Specialized armor can adapt its surface properties to reduce visual, thermal, and sensor signatures.
It does not provide true invisibility.
Movement, damage, specialist detection systems, environmental conditions, and close observation can still expose an operator.
The technology makes a skilled infiltrator considerably harder to find.
It does not make a careless one invisible.
Doctrine
The Night Phantoms prioritize avoiding unnecessary combat.
Every firefight creates noise.
Every missing patrol creates evidence.
Every alarm gives the enemy time to react.
If discovered, however, Night Phantom personnel are expected to respond rapidly and violently enough to regain control of the situation.
Their unofficial philosophy is simple:
“If they know we were there, something went wrong.”
There are exceptions.
Sometimes the mission specifically requires the enemy to know exactly who destroyed it.
Shock and Assault Formations
892nd Galactic Drop Shock Troopers “Helljumpers”
Abbreviation: GDST
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Orbital Assault / Rapid Insertion
The 892nd Galactic Drop Shock Troopers, better known as the Helljumpers, are among the most recognizable specialist assault formations within the Hell Hosts.
GDST personnel are deployed directly from spacecraft and orbital positions into active combat zones, allowing them to bypass conventional defensive lines and establish a foothold before larger forces arrive.
Their armor is significantly reinforced to survive high-speed insertion and immediate combat following deployment.
The Helljumpers are rarely encountered compared with conventional Hell Host infantry, but their reputation is widespread among enemy forces.
The term Galactic refers to their ability to deploy across distant operational theatres with supporting Hell Host fleets. Individual troopers are not literally launched between galaxies.
Typical Equipment
- Orbital insertion systems
- Reinforced combat armor
- Jetpacks
- 558 Cycler Sniper Rifle
- Atrius IV
- C74 LPG
- 569 GLS
Selena Rhenford frequently supports GDST deployments through the 18th Skyborne Wing, while Marcus Hale serves directly within the 892nd.
410th Blade Battalion “The Shredders”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Melee Warfare / Close-Quarters Combat
The 410th Blade Battalion, known as The Shredders, specializes in extremely close-range combat.
Its personnel employ powered blades, shock weapons, and aggressive breaching tactics to overwhelm enemies within trenches, tunnels, ships, bunkers, and dense structures.
The unit gained a particularly violent reputation during trench-clearing operations against the Angel Swords.
Although melee warfare is situational in an era of advanced firearms, the Shredders are specifically deployed into environments where engagement ranges collapse to only a few meters.
001st Hell Host Vanguard Battalion “Predator’s First”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Breakthrough Assault / Ceremonial Vanguard
The 001st Hell Host Vanguard Battalion, known as Predator’s First, is one of the most prestigious numbered formations within the Hell Hosts.
The battalion represents the faction’s tradition of overwhelming first-strike warfare and is trained to penetrate heavily defended positions during major offensives.
Despite its reputation, the 001st is rarely deployed. Its symbolic importance and specialist personnel make committing the battalion to battle a significant decision.
Its name directly references Predator, longtime leader of the Hell Hosts.
Typical Equipment
- Heavy infantry weapons
- Advanced powered armor
- Specialist anti-armor systems
- Restricted high-energy weapons
43rd Heavy Assault Battalion “Warhounds”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Heavy Assault / Urban Warfare / Line-Breaking
Commander: Thomas Powell
The 43rd Heavy Assault Battalion, commonly known as the Warhounds, specializes in sustained frontline combat and the destruction of heavily defended enemy positions.
Commanded by Thomas Powell, the battalion is deployed when conventional infantry assaults are expected to encounter intense resistance and withdrawing immediately after first contact is not an option.
The Warhounds operate according to a simple principle:
Gain ground. Hold it. Keep moving.
Rather than relying on rapid raids or precision attacks, the 43rd applies continuous pressure until enemy defensive lines begin to collapse.
It specializes in:
- Heavy frontline combat
- Urban warfare
- Fortified position clearance
- Trench assaults
- Industrial combat
- Line-breaking
- Mechanized infantry advances
- Prolonged engagements
The battalion maintains extensive heavy weapons and logistical support, allowing it to remain operational during engagements that would force lighter formations to rotate.
Tyrant favors aggressive operations but rejects pointless aggression. Positions are attacked because capturing them serves an operational purpose, not because attacking them looks impressive.
Once the 43rd establishes a foothold, removing it becomes considerably more difficult.
Warhounds are not expected to attack without thought.
They are expected to bite down and refuse to let go.
403rd Tactical Assault Battalion “Stormbreakers”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Tactical Assault / Environmental Disruption / Area Control
Commander: Kassandra Virek
The 403rd Tactical Assault Battalion, commonly known as the Stormbreakers, specializes in manipulating battlefield conditions in support of aggressive infantry operations.
Rather than simply attacking an enemy defensive position, the 403rd attempts to make that position increasingly difficult to defend.
Its doctrine is summarized by a simple principle:
If the battlefield favors the enemy, change the battlefield.
Stormbreaker operations can involve:
- Dense obscurants
- Sensor disruption
- Area denial
- Alternative breaching routes
- Electronic countermeasures
- Environmental manipulation
- Hazardous-environment warfare
- Fortified position assault
Once enemy observation and defensive coordination have been disrupted, the battalion’s assault elements rapidly exploit the resulting confusion.
Nyra Voss serves within the 403rd as an environmental disruption specialist, using obscurants, hazardous-environment equipment, visibility disruption, and area-denial systems.
The formation is commanded by Kassandra Virek.
Older records occasionally refer to Hammerfall as Captain of the 403rd Assault Division, terminology originating from an earlier organizational period that remains informally used by some veterans.
Hammerfall determines where pressure must be applied.
Personnel such as Haze ensure the enemy cannot respond under favorable conditions.
702nd Strategic Response Battalion “First Answer”
Branch: Doom Corps
Fleet Attachment: Fleet One
Specialty: Strategic Response / Combined-Arms Operations
Commander: Champion
The 702nd Strategic Response Battalion, commonly known as First Answer, is an elite Doom Corps formation attached to Fleet One and commanded by Champion.
Unlike specialist battalions built around one environment or method of warfare, the 702nd is deliberately designed around adaptability.
It provides Fleet One with a highly capable ground formation that can rapidly respond to critical military situations without requiring a different specialist battalion for every possible mission.
Operations can include:
- Critical objective seizure
- Emergency reinforcement
- Counterattacks
- Ship-to-surface operations
- Installation assaults
- Defensive operations
- Recovery missions
- Combined-arms warfare
- Landing-zone establishment
The battalion is not intended to outperform every specialist formation at its own specialty.
Its strength is remaining highly capable across many of them.
Fleet One
The 702nd maintains a close operational relationship with Fleet One and frequently stages aboard its vessels.
The HH Commonwealth, flagship of Fleet One, commonly functions as a command and deployment hub for 702nd operations.
Champion simultaneously serves as Admiral of Fleet One, Captain of the Commonwealth, and commander of the 702nd.
Routine battalion administration and field coordination are handled by subordinate command staff, allowing Champion to retain his wider responsibilities.
His position nevertheless gives the battalion unusually direct integration with Fleet One’s command structure.
The nickname First Answer reflects the battalion’s purpose.
When Fleet One encounters a developing crisis requiring ground forces immediately, the 702nd is one of its first answers.
117th Voidborne Assault Battalion “Hullbreakers”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Boarding Warfare / Zero-Gravity Combat
The 117th Voidborne Assault Battalion, known as the Hullbreakers, specializes in capturing hostile spacecraft, orbital stations, shipyards, and other installations where conventional planetary infantry doctrine becomes ineffective.
Personnel train extensively in zero-gravity movement, artificial-gravity failure, vacuum exposure, compartment clearing, hull breaching, and fighting within narrow spacecraft interiors.
Hullbreaker operations can begin outside an enemy vessel.
Assault teams may cross open space using maneuvering systems, breach directly through an external hull, or enter through hangars and docking systems before securing internal compartments.
Their equipment is designed to function regardless of whether the target vessel still possesses atmosphere or gravity.
Hullbreakers are frequently deployed when destroying an enemy spacecraft would be easier than capturing it, but whatever is aboard is considered too valuable to lose.
286th Subterranean Warfare Battalion “Gravediggers”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Underground Warfare / Tunnel Operations
The 286th Subterranean Warfare Battalion, known as the Gravediggers, specializes in combat beneath planetary surfaces.
Its operational environments include:
- Cave networks
- Mines
- Buried military facilities
- Subterranean cities
- Tunnel systems
- Underground industrial complexes
- Ancient ruins
Personnel are trained to operate with little or no natural navigation reference, unreliable communications, confined firing lanes, unstable structures, and limited extraction routes.
Gravedigger teams also maintain specialist equipment for underground mapping, structural analysis, excavation, breaching, and detection of concealed tunnel systems.
The battalion’s unofficial wisdom is that every underground operation eventually becomes a navigation problem.
Usually while somebody is shooting at them.
346th Combat Engineering Battalion “Pathmakers”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Combat Engineering / Battlefield Construction
The 346th Combat Engineering Battalion, known as the Pathmakers, specializes in ensuring Hell Host forces can reach places the enemy would prefer they could not.
Its personnel perform:
- Battlefield construction
- Fortification
- Mine clearance
- Demolition
- Structural breaching
- Bridge deployment
- Obstacle removal
- Route clearance
- Emergency infrastructure repair
- Landing-zone preparation
Pathmakers frequently operate under direct enemy fire.
Their purpose is not merely to construct infrastructure but to alter terrain quickly enough to influence an ongoing battle.
When a road is destroyed, they create another.
When an enemy builds a wall, they create a door.
When neither is possible, they generally resort to explosives.
Anti-Armor, Siege, and Mechanized Formations
903rd Anti-Armor Battalion “Tankbreakers”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Anti-Vehicle Warfare
The 903rd Anti-Armor Battalion, or Tankbreakers, specializes in destroying armored vehicles, combat walkers, mechanized formations, and shielded ground targets.
Tankbreaker teams combine portable heavy weapons with targeting systems designed to identify vulnerable sections of enemy vehicles.
The battalion gained widespread recognition after participating in the destruction of a massive Free World armored formation numbering hundreds of vehicles.
Typical Equipment
- 39TG SAGL
- Atrius IV
- Anti-vehicle explosives
- Heavy target-designation systems
608th Anti-Machine Battalion “Scrappers”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Anti-Robotic Warfare / Autonomous System Suppression
The 608th Anti-Machine Battalion, commonly known as the Scrappers, specializes in fighting robotic and autonomous military forces.
Its targets can include:
- Combat robots
- Drone swarms
- Autonomous vehicles
- Robotic infantry
- Automated defensive systems
- Hostile machine networks
Scrapper doctrine combines conventional anti-armor weapons with electromagnetic disruption, electronic warfare, precision targeting of sensors and power systems, and specialist systems designed to interfere with machine coordination.
The battalion does not assume that every machine can simply be “hacked.”
Advanced military systems frequently possess hardened networks, independent processing, physical isolation, or counter-intrusion systems.
When electronic attacks fail, the Scrappers revert to a considerably older anti-machine technique:
Shoot the important parts until they stop moving.
188th Siege Battalion “Iron Casters”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Siege Warfare / Artillery Coordination
The 188th Siege Battalion, known as the Iron Casters, specializes in breaking fortifications that ordinary infantry cannot efficiently assault.
Rather than directly operating the largest Hell Host artillery systems, Iron Caster personnel work closely with the Fire Division, whose formations control systems such as TAC and RAC artillery.
Forward siege teams identify targets, calculate firing solutions, coordinate bombardments, assess structural damage, and direct follow-up fire.
The battalion also conducts breaching operations and advances alongside assault formations once bombardment has weakened enemy defenses.
Iron Casters were responsible for helping breach the Angel Sword fortress on Morvannis.
Rylan Voss serves as a forward siege operative within the battalion.
77th Armored Cavalry Battalion “Steel Serpents”
Specialty: Rapid Armored Warfare
The 77th Armored Cavalry Battalion, known as the Steel Serpents, operates high-speed armored vehicles designed for rapid breakthroughs, flanking maneuvers, and long-distance planetary warfare.
Its hover armor allows the battalion to traverse terrain that would significantly slow conventional tracked vehicles.
Typical Equipment
- Hover tanks
- Plasma-coil cannons
- Anti-aircraft rail systems
- Reconnaissance vehicles
512th Exo-Suit Battalion “Iron Walkers”
Specialty: Heavy Exo-Frame Warfare
The 512th Exo-Suit Battalion operates large powered combat frames positioned between conventional powered infantry and full combat walkers.
Known as the Iron Walkers, the battalion combines biological pilots with robotic and autonomous support platforms.
Exo-frames can mount weapons far too heavy for conventional infantry while retaining greater maneuverability than large armored vehicles.
950th Titan Walker Battalion “Mountain Breakers”
Specialty: Titan Warfare
The 950th Titan Walker Battalion, appropriately nicknamed the Mountain Breakers, is responsible for supporting the deployment and operation of Hell Host Titans.
Titans are colossal strategic war machines capable of overwhelming fortified positions, mechanized armies, and infrastructure on a scale conventional ground vehicles cannot match.
The 950th includes not only Titan crews but the enormous support structure required to deploy them.
Engineering personnel, security forces, logistics teams, maintenance crews, reconnaissance units, and battlefield support elements all contribute to Titan operations.
Due to the immense resources involved, Mountain Breaker deployments are rare.
When one occurs, however, the battle usually changes considerably.
Aviation Support
243rd Aerial Armor Battalion “Sky Lancers”
Branch: Aviation Division
Specialty: Gunship / Dropship Combat Support
The 243rd Aerial Armor Battalion, known as the Sky Lancers, provides armored aviation support to ground formations.
Its crews operate heavily armed dropships, gunships, and escort craft capable of supporting infantry during contested insertions and extractions.
The Sky Lancers frequently cooperate with the 892nd Galactic Drop Shock Troopers, providing air cover during Helljumper deployments.
Spectre Division Formations
330th Anti-Insurgent Battalion “Peacekeepers”
Division: Spectre Division
Specialty: Counter-Insurgency / Civil Security
The 330th Anti-Insurgent Battalion, known as the Peacekeepers, specializes in maintaining security during rebellions, insurgencies, sabotage campaigns, and periods of major civil unrest.
Unlike frontline Doom Corps formations, Peacekeeper personnel maintain access to both lethal and less-lethal equipment depending on operational authorization.
The battalion was notably deployed during major strikes and unrest on Voridinus II.
402nd Riot Control Battalion “Shieldwall”
Division: Spectre Division
Specialty: Riot Control / Formation Security
The 402nd Riot Control Battalion, or Shieldwall, specializes in controlling large crowds and maintaining defensive formations during severe civil disorder.
Its personnel are known for disciplined shield formations and coordinated movement rather than individual aggression.
Typical Equipment
- Powered shields
- Protective armor
- Sonic disruption systems
- Less-lethal weapons
- Conventional weapons where authorized
901st Crime Suppression Battalion “Black Badges”
Division: Spectre Division
Specialty: Military Crime Suppression / Investigative Support
The 901st Crime Suppression Battalion, known informally as the Black Badges, supports operations against organized crime, military smuggling, trafficking networks, hostile intelligence operations, and other sophisticated criminal threats.
The unit uses extensive surveillance, data analysis, evidence collection, and covert investigative techniques.
Where jurisdiction permits, Black Badge personnel may cooperate with the P.C.E..
The two organizations remain separate entities.
Typical Equipment
- Evidence drones
- Tracking systems
- Surveillance equipment
- Covert communications
- Conventional tactical weapons
217th Biohazard Response Battalion “Gravewatch”
Operational Designation: Biohazard Response Unit (BRU)
Branch: Doom Corps
Command: Hazard Operations
Specialty: Outbreak Containment / Infected Elimination / Biohazard Response
Commander: Watcher
First Deployment: Valcara Prime — Incident Day 01
Motto: “We go in, so others can live.”
The 217th Biohazard Response Battalion, better known as Gravewatch or simply BRU, is a specialist Hell Host formation deployed during severe biological emergencies.
Gravewatch operates in environments where disease, parasites, hostile organisms, biological weapons, or other transmissible threats have rendered conventional military operations dangerously ineffective.
Its primary objective is not simply to destroy infected targets.
It is to contain the outbreak, recover those who can still be saved, and prevent the threat from spreading beyond the affected region.
The arrival of Gravewatch is generally considered an indication that a biological incident has escalated beyond conventional emergency response.
Operational Role
Gravewatch is responsible for:
- Outbreak containment
- Infected elimination
- Quarantine enforcement
- Civilian extraction
- Survivor recovery
- Sample recovery
- Biological threat identification
- Contaminated facility clearance
- Countermeasure support
- Establishment of containment zones
- Prevention of cross-regional contamination
- Recovery of infected personnel where treatment remains possible
The battalion may operate within cities, military installations, research facilities, spacecraft, colonies, underground complexes, or entire planetary quarantine zones.
During extreme outbreaks, Gravewatch can be deployed for prolonged operations with minimal contact with uncontaminated personnel.
Containment Doctrine
The 217th operates according to a strict containment hierarchy.
The first priority is determining the boundaries of the outbreak.
The second is preventing those boundaries from expanding.
Only then can personnel begin systematic recovery, elimination, investigation, and decontamination operations.
Gravewatch teams establish controlled zones around contaminated areas, commonly separating territory into progressively more dangerous sectors.
Movement between these zones is heavily regulated.
Personnel leaving contaminated environments undergo extensive screening and decontamination regardless of whether they display symptoms.
No assumption is made that an apparently healthy individual is uninfected.
Infected Elimination
When infected organisms become actively hostile or recovery is considered impossible, Gravewatch personnel are authorized to eliminate them.
Different outbreaks require different methods.
Some infected targets can be killed conventionally.
Others require destruction of specific organs, parasites, biological structures, or infected tissue.
Certain organisms may continue spreading contamination after death.
Gravewatch therefore places significant emphasis on understanding how an infected target must be killed, rather than simply determining whether enough ammunition has been fired into it.
Recovered biological samples are frequently transferred to the Research Division and Medical Corps for further study.
Civilian Extraction
Despite its intimidating appearance and reputation, Gravewatch is fundamentally a life-preservation formation.
Its personnel routinely enter quarantine zones specifically to recover civilians and isolated military personnel who cannot escape independently.
Extraction teams identify survivors, perform preliminary medical screening, establish temporary safe corridors, and escort recovered individuals toward controlled decontamination sites.
The battalion’s motto reflects this responsibility:
“We go in, so others can live.”
Gravewatch personnel knowingly enter environments everyone else is being ordered to evacuate.
Biohazard Equipment
BRU personnel use heavily sealed combat armor designed to reduce exposure to infectious material and hazardous biological environments.
Standard equipment may include:
- Biosealed respirators
- Sealed hazard armor
- Independent breathing systems
- Biological scanners
- Medical diagnostic equipment
- Decontamination systems
- Thermal and ultraviolet equipment
- Sample containment units
- Emergency medical kits
- Breaching equipment
- Incendiary equipment where authorized
- Conventional Hell Host weapons
Armor is designed not only to protect the wearer but also to prevent contaminated personnel from carrying biological material outside an affected zone.
A damaged environmental seal is therefore treated as a serious incident even when the soldier wearing it appears unharmed.
BRU Teams
Gravewatch commonly deploys specialized response teams containing personnel with complementary roles.
A typical team may include:
Commander
Coordinates the response team, evaluates containment priorities, and maintains communication with wider Gravewatch command.
Breacher
Specializes in close-quarters operations, forced entry, infected clearing, and access to sealed or obstructed areas.
Marksman
Provides precision fire against dangerous infected targets and identifies biological weak points from greater distances.
Medic
Specializes in trauma treatment, infection assessment, emergency stabilization, and the recovery of exposed personnel.
Rifleman
Provides adaptable frontline combat capability and protection for specialist team members.
Technical Specialist
Operates biological scanners, drones, containment systems, environmental sensors, and other specialist equipment.
Team composition changes according to the nature of the outbreak.
Watcher
The 217th is commanded by an officer known by the callsign Watcher.
Watcher is a veteran of multiple major containment events and specializes in coordinating operations within densely populated and urban environments.
Known for remaining calm during rapidly deteriorating situations, Watcher places considerable emphasis on maintaining containment discipline even when conventional military instincts would encourage immediate pursuit or attack.
Within Gravewatch, hesitation can allow an outbreak to spread.
Recklessness can do exactly the same thing.
Watcher expects personnel to understand the difference.
Further information regarding Watcher’s identity and service history is restricted.
Valcara Prime
The first major deployment of Gravewatch occurred during the Valcara Prime incident.
BRU personnel began deploying on Incident Day 01 as the scale of the biological emergency became apparent.
The situation deteriorated rapidly.
Large areas were placed under quarantine as infection spread through populated regions, forcing Gravewatch teams to conduct simultaneous containment, infected-elimination, civilian-extraction, and sample-recovery operations.
The Valcara deployment became one of the defining events in Gravewatch history and heavily influenced later Hell Host biohazard doctrine.
Many of the procedures now considered standard BRU practice were developed, modified, or proven during the crisis.
For Gravewatch personnel, Valcara Prime remains a reminder of how quickly a localized biological incident can become a planetary catastrophe.
Relationship with the Medical Corps
Gravewatch works extensively with the Medical Corps during biological emergencies.
The distinction between the organizations is primarily operational.
The Medical Corps focuses upon:
- Diagnosis
- Treatment
- Medical evacuation
- Countermeasure deployment
- Patient care
Gravewatch focuses upon:
- Entering contaminated territory
- Securing quarantine zones
- Recovering survivors
- Eliminating hostile infected
- Preventing further transmission
Neither can effectively handle a major outbreak alone.
Relationship with the Research Division
The Research Division studies recovered organisms, samples, pathogens, parasites, and other biological material in an attempt to understand the threat and develop countermeasures.
Gravewatch personnel frequently provide those samples.
The relationship is therefore straightforward:
Gravewatch contains it.
Research figures out what it is.
Preferably in that order.
Relationship with the Eradication Division
Gravewatch and the Eradication Division represent very different stages of Hell Host biological-threat doctrine.
Gravewatch exists to contain an outbreak while preserving as many lives as possible.
Eradication formations are deployed when command determines that a contaminated area or hostile biological presence must be destroyed outright.
Gravewatch personnel therefore generally attempt containment, evacuation, and recovery before widespread eradication is considered.
There are incidents where this is impossible.
Those incidents tend to be remembered.
Reputation
Gravewatch possesses a grim reputation throughout the Hell Hosts.
This is not because its personnel are feared.
It is because of what their arrival means.
Seeing ordinary Doom Corps formations indicates a battle.
Seeing the Radwalkers indicates contamination.
Seeing Gravewatch means somebody believes the contamination can spread.
Despite this reputation, the 217th is respected for repeatedly entering environments from which everyone else is being evacuated.
Its personnel operate between infected populations and the worlds beyond them.
Among BRU personnel, another phrase has consequently become closely associated with the formation:
“We are the shield between humanity and extinction.”
808th Anomalous Containment Battalion “Lockkeepers”
Branch: Doom Corps
Specialty: Anomalous Containment / Emergency Response
The 808th Anomalous Containment Battalion, known as the Lockkeepers, responds to anomalous threats that cannot be handled safely by conventional military forces.
Its missions can involve:
- Escaped anomalous entities
- Unstable artifacts
- Reality-distorting phenomena
- Unknown energy events
- Compromised research facilities
- Dangerous ancient technology
- Element 95 incidents
The Lockkeepers are not researchers.
Scientific investigation remains the responsibility of organizations such as the Research Division.
The 808th exists for situations where whatever was being researched has stopped cooperating.
Personnel use modular containment equipment because no single system is effective against every anomaly.
Physical barriers, energy fields, remote systems, environmental isolation, specialized sensors, and heavy weapons may all be employed depending upon the threat.
Destroying an anomaly is not automatically considered preferable to containment.
Some cannot be reliably destroyed.
Others become considerably worse when somebody tries.
The first objective is therefore to isolate the threat, establish what it can do, and prevent the incident from expanding.
Experimental Warfare Formations
120th Nanite Fusion Battalion “Grey Swarm”
Specialty: Nanite-Assisted Warfare
Status: Restricted
The 120th Nanite Fusion Battalion, known as Grey Swarm, fields experimental nanotechnology integrated into infantry equipment.
Nanite systems can assist with armor maintenance, battlefield repair, medical stabilization, reconnaissance, and autonomous drone operations.
The technology remains unpredictable under certain battlefield conditions, resulting in heavy restrictions surrounding Grey Swarm deployments.
Many of its operations remain classified.
999th Experimental Weapons Battalion “Shoved Under the Rug”
Specialty: Experimental Weapons / Prototype Warfare
Status: Highly Restricted
The 999th Experimental Weapons Battalion exists to field-test equipment considered too unstable, dangerous, unconventional, or poorly understood for ordinary Hell Host formations.
Its unofficial nickname, Shoved Under the Rug, reflects its reputation as the place where military projects go when nobody else wants responsibility for them.
Personnel may encounter prototype weapons, experimental armor, augmentation systems, anomalous technology, and equipment whose long-term effects remain uncertain.
Despite the danger, service within the 999th can be prestigious among weapons specialists and experimental personnel.
Kael Virek serves within the battalion as part of Project Null.

Information Warfare
771st Psychological Warfare Battalion “Whispers”
Specialty: Psychological Warfare / Information Operations
The 771st Psychological Warfare Battalion, known as Whispers, specializes in damaging enemy cohesion without necessarily engaging them directly.
Operations include propaganda, deception, misinformation, psychological manipulation, false battlefield signals, holo-projected deception, and targeted morale campaigns.
Whispers personnel work alongside intelligence and conventional military formations to create confusion before and during major operations.
One of the battalion’s most famous campaigns targeted the Free World Order’s 7th Army, saturating its information environment with false reports and contradictory intelligence before a major engagement.
The resulting confusion severely disrupted the formation before conventional fighting began.
Typical Equipment
- Holo-projectors
- Communications interception systems
- Sonic systems
- Electronic warfare equipment
- Battlefield deception technology
Organization
These battalions represent only a small fraction of the Hell Host military.
Thousands of additional numbered formations exist throughout the Doom Corps, Fleet Guard, Aviation Division, Fire Division, Spectre Division, planetary defense forces, armored formations, specialist commands, and other branches.
Some are permanent formations with histories spanning centuries.
Others are created, reorganized, merged, disbanded, or rebuilt as military requirements change.
Battalion numbers do not necessarily indicate chronological creation or current strength. A formation may retain its number even after its purpose, command structure, equipment, or organizational affiliation changes significantly.
This has occasionally produced historical records referring to formations by classifications no longer considered accurate.
Battalion nicknames are similarly inconsistent.
Some are officially approved honorifics.
Others originate from soldiers, enemy forces, famous campaigns, jokes, or incidents that eventually became inseparable from the formation.
The enormous variety of Hell Host battalions reflects the environments in which the faction operates.
A military spanning numerous planets cannot assume every war will be fought on familiar ground.
Some enemies hide beneath oceans.
Others hide underground.
Some fight from orbit.
Some use machines.
Some spread through biological infection.
And occasionally, the Hell Hosts encounter something for which no existing military doctrine was designed.
When that happens, another specialist formation may eventually be created.
The Hell Hosts do not maintain thousands of battalions because every one is required in every war.
They maintain them because somewhere in the Omicron Galaxy, eventually, somebody is going to need one.
