The Eden Reach

The Eden Reach is a vast life-rich region of the Omicron Galaxy, renowned for its extraordinary concentration of habitable worlds, diverse ecosystems, and biological diversity.

Unlike the heavily militarised territories of the Core Systems or the anomalous regions of the Farlands, Voidlands, and The Veil, the Eden Reach is primarily associated with scientific research, conservation, agriculture, medicine, and civilian settlement.

The region contains numerous independent worlds and civilisations rather than being controlled by a single dominant power. Several species are believed to have originated within the Reach, including the Sylvans and Pelagians.

Many Eden worlds are renowned for their immense forests, vast oceans, unusual ecosystems, and abundant native life. Some planets contain environments considered among the most biologically diverse in the known galaxy.

Despite its reputation for beauty, the Eden Reach is not universally safe. Several worlds possess extremely hostile ecosystems, dangerous native species, toxic environments, or biospheres considered too ecologically sensitive for unrestricted settlement.

Large areas of the region remain protected or only partially explored.

The Eden Mystery

Despite its reputation as one of the most biologically prosperous regions of the Omicron Galaxy, the extraordinary abundance of life throughout the Eden Reach has remained the subject of scientific controversy for centuries.

Studies of organisms originating from worlds separated by dozens or even hundreds of light-years have occasionally revealed unexplained biological similarities. Certain genetic structures appear repeatedly across ecosystems believed to have evolved entirely independently.

One controversial hypothesis proposes that much of the life within the Eden Reach may share an ancient common origin.

At the centre of these theories is Eden, an exceptionally old and biologically complex world located near the heart of the region.

Some researchers believe Eden may represent the original source from which life gradually spread throughout the Reach. More extreme theories suggest that the planet itself, or something existing deep beneath its surface, may constitute an enormous living system capable of propagating biological material across interstellar distances.

No conclusive evidence supporting these theories has ever been made publicly available.

Ancient Sylvan and Pelagian traditions contain stories describing a connection between the living worlds of the Reach, although interpretations of these traditions vary considerably.

Rumours surrounding Eden have persisted for centuries. Restricted regions, missing expedition records, unexplained research activity, and alleged involvement by Obsidian Veil have contributed to numerous conspiracy theories regarding the true nature of the planet.

Whatever the truth, the origin of the Eden Reach’s extraordinary biodiversity remains one of the greatest unresolved biological mysteries in the Omicron Galaxy.
