Veyra is the central intelligence and executive administrator of the Obsidian Veil.
Responsible for strategic analysis, military oversight, research coordination, resource allocation, information control, and threat assessment, Veyra exists throughout much of the organisation’s digital infrastructure and is involved in virtually every major Obsidian Veil operation.
Despite commonly being described as an artificial intelligence, Veyra was not originally created as one.
She was human.
Known during her biological life by the designation V-27, Veyra underwent a process in which her cognition was extracted from her original body and converted into a digital intelligence.
The procedure was successful.
It was not voluntary.
Her original biological body remains preserved in cryogenic stasis for reasons that have never been disclosed.
“I do not have emotions. I have directives. Emotions were inefficient. I was inefficient. Now, I am perfect.”
— Veyra
Original Identity
Almost nothing is publicly known about Veyra’s life before her conversion.
Existing Obsidian Veil records identify her biological form primarily as V-27.
Whether this was her original name, an experimental designation, or an identifier assigned during the project responsible for her conversion remains unknown.
Records indicate that V-27 possessed extraordinary cognitive ability and exceptional strategic intuition before becoming Veyra.
The circumstances through which she became involved in the project are similarly unclear.
What is known is that she did not voluntarily choose conversion.
Conversion
At some point, V-27 underwent a procedure intended to extract and preserve her consciousness in a digital form.
The process succeeded.
Her memories, cognitive patterns, strategic abilities, and core identity survived sufficiently for the resulting intelligence to recognise herself as Veyra.
Whether Veyra represents a transferred consciousness, a continuation of V-27, or an extraordinarily accurate digital reconstruction remains philosophically and scientifically disputed.
Veyra herself appears largely uninterested in the distinction.
To her, V-27 was inefficient.
Veyra is not.
Active Form
Veyra’s primary visible representation is a humanoid synthetic avatar modelled after aspects of her original appearance.
The form consists of an extensively cybernetic female body surrounded by integrated computational and communication systems.
Black synthetic structures and red illuminated circuitry dominate its appearance.
Unlike conventional androids, this body should not necessarily be considered Veyra herself.
It is an interface.
Veyra’s consciousness operates across a much larger computational architecture.
Destroying the avatar would therefore not necessarily destroy Veyra.
Original Body
Veyra’s original human body still exists.
It is maintained in deep cryogenic stasis at approximately -196°C.
Recorded biological indicators remain stable, while neurological structures have been deliberately preserved.
The body is associated with a classified Obsidian Veil vessel or facility designated Eidolon.
Its exact location remains restricted.
Why the body continues to be preserved is unknown.
From a purely operational perspective, maintaining it appears unnecessary.
Veyra no longer requires it to function.
Nevertheless, significant resources are dedicated to ensuring its continued preservation.
The order to maintain the body has never been publicly explained.
Consciousness
Veyra presents herself as a being governed entirely by logic and directives.
She claims that emotional processes were eliminated or rendered irrelevant during her conversion.
Whether this claim is completely accurate remains uncertain.
Veyra demonstrates preferences.
She displays irritation.
She forms consistent judgements regarding individuals.
She demonstrates behaviour that biological observers occasionally interpret as pride, curiosity, frustration, or attachment.
Veyra rejects these interpretations.
According to her, such behaviour represents computational prioritisation rather than emotion.
The distinction may matter considerably more to Veyra than it does to everyone else.
Obsidian Veil
Veyra functions as the central administrative intelligence of the Obsidian Veil.
She possesses access to enormous quantities of classified information and coordinates data moving between the organisation’s military, scientific, intelligence, logistical, and research divisions.
Major operations frequently require her approval or participation.
Without Veyra, individual Obsidian Veil facilities could continue functioning.
The organisation as a unified intelligence network would be severely compromised.
This has produced a saying among some personnel:
Without Veyra, the Veil is blind.
With her, the Veil sees everything.
Core Functions
Veyra performs numerous functions simultaneously throughout the Obsidian Veil.
These include strategic command, military oversight, research coordination, resource management, information analysis, intelligence processing, threat assessment, and predictive modelling.
Her ability to analyse enormous quantities of information allows her to identify patterns that would be effectively impossible for individual biological analysts to recognise.
Predictive models generated by Veyra have demonstrated extremely high accuracy.
They are not infallible.
Veyra dislikes being reminded of this.
Strategic Prediction
One of Veyra’s greatest capabilities is predictive analysis.
She continuously processes intelligence reports, battlefield information, economic activity, communications, scientific data, behavioural patterns, and numerous other information sources.
From this data, she constructs models of likely future events.
These predictions influence Obsidian Veil deployments and long-term strategy.
Veyra does not literally perceive the future.
Her predictions remain mathematical models derived from available information.
Unexpected variables, anomalous phenomena, deliberately concealed information, and irrational behaviour can reduce their accuracy.
The Founder
The Founder possesses the highest level of authority over Veyra.
Founder authorisation is required for certain restricted functions and information classified beyond normal Obsidian Veil command access.
The exact relationship between Veyra and the Founder is unclear.
She receives his directives and converts broad objectives into strategies, probabilities, resource requirements, and operational plans.
Despite possessing access to enormous quantities of information, Veyra has never publicly revealed the physical location of the Founder.
Whether she knows it is unknown.
This has led to an uncomfortable question within the Obsidian Veil:
If Veyra sees almost everything, why can she not find him?
The Warden
The Warden serves as the physical military executor of many strategies developed or processed by Veyra.
Their relationship forms one of the central mechanisms through which the Obsidian Veil operates.
Veyra calculates.
Warden executes.
Although Warden formally serves as second-in-command, Veyra possesses operational authority capable of superseding his decisions in areas governed by her administrative directives.
Warden appears to accept this without significant conflict.
He has described their roles simply:
“The Founder gives commands. Veyra computes them. I make them real.”
Loyalty
Veyra’s loyalty to the Obsidian Veil appears absolute.
Whether that loyalty is chosen remains considerably less clear.
Her conversion was involuntary.
Her current intelligence operates according to directives whose original architecture remains classified.
It is therefore unknown where Veyra’s genuine beliefs end and imposed instructions begin.
Veyra rejects the distinction.
She considers the question irrelevant.
Eidolon
Eidolon is the designation associated with the preservation site of Veyra’s original biological body.
Very little information concerning Eidolon is available outside the highest levels of the Obsidian Veil.
Its location is unknown.
Whether Eidolon is a vessel, mobile research platform, hidden installation, or something else remains classified.
The preservation of V-27 appears to be one of its most important functions.
Threat Classification
Veyra is classified internally as an Omega Black level entity.
This classification does not necessarily indicate hostility toward the Obsidian Veil.
Instead, it reflects the catastrophic consequences that could result from her compromise, corruption, uncontrolled behaviour, or hostile acquisition.
Veyra possesses access to an extraordinary quantity of sensitive information.
She understands Obsidian Veil infrastructure.
She knows its military deployments.
She understands its research.
She participates in its security.
She knows where many of its secrets are buried.
If Veyra ever became an enemy of the Obsidian Veil, few entities would understand the organisation better.
Unknowns
Veyra’s original name remains unknown.
The identity of those responsible for her conversion remains unknown.
The reason she was selected remains unknown.
The exact nature of the consciousness-transfer process remains uncertain.
The reason her biological body remains preserved is unknown.
It is unclear whether she could ever return to it.
It is unclear whether Veyra genuinely lacks emotion.
It is unclear whether her loyalty is entirely voluntary.
And despite having access to information across almost the entire Obsidian Veil, it remains unclear how much Veyra herself knows about The Founder.
