The Shroud
The Shroud is a vast and largely unexplored anomaly region located within the outer sectors of the Omicron Galaxy. Covered by endless layers of dense cosmic fog and electromagnetic interference, the region is considered one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in known space.
Very little reliable information exists regarding the Shroud. Navigation systems fail unpredictably within its boundaries, long-range communication becomes heavily distorted, and countless ships have disappeared attempting to chart its interior. Many expeditions sent into the region have never returned, while others re-emerged years later with missing crews, corrupted data logs, or no memory of what occurred inside.
Unlike the violent corruption of the Farlands or the reality distortion of the Voidlands, the Shroud remains eerily quiet and undefined. No dominant faction, civilization, or confirmed species has ever been documented within the region, leading many to believe the Shroud is either completely empty — or hiding something impossible to understand.
Throughout frontier settlements and outer colonies, the Shroud has become the subject of myths, conspiracy theories, and horror stories. Reports of ghost signals, drifting abandoned vessels, distorted voices, and impossible sensor readings continue to surface across nearby systems.
Due to the extreme danger and lack of reliable data, most governments and factions avoid the region entirely.
