Marksman, historically known as F.O.R Marksman, is a former Free Order Rebellion sniper and current Hell Host Squadron Leader known for exceptional marksmanship, extreme battlefield mobility, and an almost complete refusal to treat dangerous situations with the seriousness they probably deserve.
A veteran of the TCA-FOR War, Marksman was already an experienced operative long before the creation of the Hell Hosts.
He participated in numerous operations during the conflict, including Operation Cerberus, where he infiltrated a hostile installation in search of intelligence concerning the ongoing war.
Following the eventual fragmentation and disappearance of the Free Order Rebellion as a major military force, Marksman did not immediately transition into Hell Host service.
He disappeared from the organization that would eventually emerge from the conflict.
Years later, following catastrophic injuries and an encounter with Azure Gale, Marksman entered the Hell Hosts.
Despite changing factions, he never abandoned his original callsign.
The F.O.R remained.
Early Career
Marksman’s real identity remains undocumented.
During the era of the Free Order Rebellion, he developed a reputation as an exceptionally capable sniper and rapidly advanced through the organization’s ranks.
His skills extended beyond long-range combat.
Marksman demonstrated considerable ability in:
- Reconnaissance
- Infiltration
- Intelligence gathering
- Precision shooting
- Independent operations
- Battlefield improvisation
- Small-unit command
His unusual personality also became apparent during this period.
Even in situations involving immediate danger, Marksman rarely abandoned his sense of humor.
Where other operatives became increasingly serious under pressure, Marksman often became more sarcastic.
This tendency would remain one of his defining characteristics throughout his career.
TCA-FOR War
Marksman fought during the TCA-FOR War as an operative of the Free Order Rebellion.
The conflict became one of the defining periods of his early military career.
During the war, Marksman frequently operated in reconnaissance and infiltration roles where his marksmanship and ability to function independently proved particularly valuable.
One of his most notable operations during this period was Operation Cerberus.
Operation Cerberus
Operation Cerberus occurred during the TCA-FOR War, before the foundation of the Hell Hosts.
Marksman was tasked with infiltrating a hostile military installation and recovering intelligence concerning the ongoing conflict.
The operation required Marksman to enter the facility largely undetected, navigate hostile territory, and gather information without triggering a full-scale engagement.
At this point in his life, Marksman had not yet suffered the injuries that would later result in the loss of his legs.
Operation Cerberus therefore represents Marksman during his earlier career as a Free Order Rebellion operative.
The operation became one of several missions that established his reputation for infiltration, marksmanship, and independent field work.
Separation from the Free Order Rebellion
The Free Order Rebellion did not survive indefinitely in its original form.
As the political and military landscape surrounding the rebellion changed, elements of the organization eventually contributed to forces and relationships that would later surround the creation of the Hell Hosts.
Marksman did not initially follow them.
At some point during this transition, he separated from the remnants of the rebellion.
The exact circumstances surrounding his departure remain unclear.
For a period, Marksman operated outside the organization that would eventually become his home.
The Landmine Incident
Marksman’s original military career was eventually interrupted by a catastrophic injury.
While travelling through hostile territory, Marksman stepped on a landmine.
He survived the explosion.
His legs did not.
Both were lost as a result of the blast.
Although Marksman survived, the severity of his injuries ended his existing military service and resulted in an honorable discharge.
For an operative whose career had been built around mobility, infiltration, and battlefield performance, the injury could easily have ended his involvement in warfare permanently.
Instead, it eventually led him to Azure Gale.
Azure Gale
Following his discharge, Marksman was discovered by Azure Gale, who was known during this period as Blue Typhoon.
Azure recognized Marksman’s potential despite his injuries.
Rather than allowing the loss of Marksman’s legs to end his career, Azure constructed a pair of advanced prosthetic replacements.
The prostheses restored Marksman’s mobility and ultimately allowed him to move at speeds far beyond what he had previously been capable of.
Azure subsequently recruited Marksman.
Their shared history created a strong bond between the two, with Azure becoming one of the most important figures in Marksman’s post-Rebellion life.
Marksman’s eventual return to military operations and later involvement with the Hell Hosts were heavily influenced by this encounter.
Although the exact nature of their relationship is rarely discussed, Marksman holds considerable trust and respect for Azure.
Hell Host Service
Marksman eventually entered the Hell Hosts, rejoining several individuals and military traditions connected to the era of the Free Order Rebellion.
By this point, however, he was no longer the same soldier who had fought during the TCA-FOR War.
He now possessed advanced prosthetic legs and had developed an unusual ability to manipulate accumulated kinetic energy.
Marksman serves as a Squadron Leader, commanding a small force of elite personnel.
Unlike commanders permanently attached to a single conventional formation, Marksman and his personnel can be assigned wherever additional specialist manpower is required.
This makes his squadron particularly useful for unusual operations, reconnaissance, infiltration, precision strikes, and missions where conventional formations would be inappropriate.
Marksman himself continues to participate directly in field operations.
The F.O.R Name
Marksman never changed his original callsign after joining the Hell Hosts.
Officially and historically, he remains:
F.O.R Marksman.
The initials refer to the Free Order Rebellion, the faction in which his military career began.
The rebellion itself belongs to an earlier period of galactic history.
Marksman does not.
Why he continues carrying the initials has never been formally explained.
They may represent loyalty to former comrades, respect for where his career began, remembrance of the conflict, simple stubbornness, or some combination of all four.
Most personnel simply call him Marksman.
The old designation nevertheless remains attached to his name.
Abilities
Kinetic Re-exertion
Marksman possesses the ability to accumulate kinetic energy generated by or transferred into his body.
Potential sources include:
- Running
- Rapid movement
- Physical impacts
- Being struck
- Weapon recoil
- Sudden acceleration
- Other forms of kinetic force acting upon him
Rather than allowing all of this energy to dissipate normally, Marksman can retain a portion of it and later release it.
The accumulated energy can be re-exerted through different actions.
Marksman can channel it into physical strikes, movement, acceleration, or other forms of kinetic output.
A punch enhanced through stored kinetic energy can carry dramatically greater force than Marksman’s ordinary physical strength would suggest.
Likewise, accumulated energy can be released through movement to produce sudden bursts of exceptional speed.
The ability rewards momentum.
The more kinetic activity Marksman experiences, the more dangerous his potential energy release becomes.
However, his capacity is not unlimited, and extreme accumulation or release places significant strain upon both Marksman and his equipment.
Unstoppable Momentum
Marksman’s most extreme application of Kinetic Re-exertion is known as Unstoppable Momentum.
After accumulating a sufficiently large reserve of kinetic energy, Marksman can channel it into sustained forward movement.
Once the effect begins, stopping him becomes extraordinarily difficult.
Obstacles, impacts, and opposing forces that would normally halt a running individual can instead be overcome through the enormous momentum Marksman maintains.
This does not make him literally unstoppable.
Marksman can voluntarily end the effect, and sufficiently powerful opposing forces can halt or redirect him.
The ability also requires substantial kinetic buildup before it can be activated.
As a result, Unstoppable Momentum is not something Marksman can use continuously.
When properly prepared, however, attempting to physically stand in his path is strongly discouraged.
Prosthetic Legs
Both of Marksman’s legs are advanced prosthetic replacements created by Azure Gale.
They were originally constructed following the landmine incident that ended Marksman’s previous military career.
The prostheses do considerably more than restore ordinary movement.
They are designed to withstand extreme acceleration, high-speed movement, sudden impacts, and the unusual forces generated by Marksman’s kinetic abilities.
Combined with his own powers, they allow Marksman to achieve extraordinary movement speeds.
His prosthetics are therefore integral to his modern combat style.
They are not believed to be the source of his Kinetic Re-exertion ability itself.
Adaptive Kinetic Sniper Rifle
Marksman’s primary weapon is a highly advanced modular sniper rifle constructed around his unusual combat requirements.
The weapon is capable of accepting a wide variety of ammunition types and can operate through multiple firing configurations.
This adaptability allows Marksman to modify the rifle according to mission requirements rather than carrying multiple dedicated precision weapons.
Its most unusual characteristic is its compatibility with Marksman’s kinetic abilities.
Marksman can channel accumulated kinetic force into the weapon during firing, dramatically increasing the energy transferred into a shot.
This allows an already powerful precision weapon to achieve substantially greater impact when Marksman has sufficient kinetic energy available.
Weapon recoil itself can also contribute to his accumulated kinetic reserve.
The result creates a feedback relationship between Marksman and his weapon:
Movement generates energy.
Combat generates energy.
The rifle generates energy.
Marksman gives it back.
Combat Style
Despite his name, Marksman is no longer limited to conventional sniper doctrine.
He remains an exceptional precision shooter, but his prosthetics and kinetic abilities allow him to transition rapidly between long-range and close-range engagements.
Marksman may establish a distant firing position, engage priority targets, relocate at extreme speed, and resume firing from another angle before hostile forces can effectively respond.
When forced into close combat, stored kinetic energy allows him to compensate for the loss of distance.
His fighting style therefore combines:
- Precision shooting
- Extreme mobility
- Rapid repositioning
- Reconnaissance
- Infiltration
- Kinetic-enhanced strikes
- Independent decision-making
- Small-unit coordination
Marksman’s versatility is one of the primary reasons he is frequently attached to unconventional operations.
Personality
Marksman possesses a notoriously unserious attitude toward dangerous situations.
Even during active combat, he frequently searches for the humorous side of whatever is happening around him.
Sarcasm, jokes, insults, and deliberately irritating remarks are common.
This should not be mistaken for incompetence or an inability to recognize danger.
Marksman understands perfectly well when a situation is serious.
He simply refuses to behave as though it deserves the satisfaction.
His humor can make him surprisingly effective under pressure, but it can also make him extraordinarily irritating to personnel who prefer discipline and professionalism.
Marksman is particularly fond of nicknames.
Not everyone appreciates this.
”Revo”
One notable example involved Magnum.
Marksman did not particularly like Magnum.
Magnum also possessed a considerable fondness for revolvers, most notably his signature weapon, Massacre.
Marksman responded by calling him:
Revo.
The name was deliberately reductive and primarily intended to annoy Magnum.
Magnum hated it.
Marksman therefore had very little reason to stop using it.
Leadership
Despite his personality, Marksman is an experienced field commander.
As a Squadron Leader, he commands a small group of elite personnel capable of operating independently or reinforcing other Hell Host formations.
Marksman generally leads from the field rather than from a distant command position.
His leadership style relies heavily upon initiative.
Personnel serving under him are expected to understand the objective, adapt to changing circumstances, and make decisions without waiting for constant instruction.
His casual demeanor can initially give the impression that he lacks discipline.
His operational record suggests otherwise.
Reputation
Marksman’s reputation has developed across multiple eras of conflict.
To veterans of the TCA-FOR War, he is a surviving operative of the Free Order Rebellion.
To modern Hell Host personnel, he is an unusually mobile sniper and special operations commander.
To those who know him personally, he is often an exceptionally skilled soldier who is physically incapable of shutting the fuck up when doing so would probably be appropriate.
All three descriptions are accurate.
His survival across the Free Order Rebellion, the loss of both legs, his eventual return to military service, and his later career with the Hell Hosts have made him one of the faction’s more experienced unconventional operatives.
Through all of it, one name remained.
F.O.R Marksman.
