Thalassir
Thalassir is a remote oceanic world located within the Aegimius System, known for its endless planetary ocean, immense abyssal depths, and towering polar ice shelves that surround the planet’s frozen upper hemispheres. Unlike the heavily industrialized resource worlds elsewhere in the system, Thalassir remains largely unexplored, with the overwhelming majority of its surface covered by deep open water.
The planet possesses no major continents, only scattered archipelagos, drifting ice formations, and isolated oceanic platforms rising above the surface. Beneath the waters lies a vast and largely unmapped abyssal environment believed to contain ancient geological trenches, underwater volcanic systems, and potentially undiscovered ecosystems.
Towering ice shelves dominate the polar regions, forming colossal frozen walls stretching hundreds of kilometers across the horizon. These regions are extremely dangerous due to freezing storms, unstable ice fractures, and powerful oceanic currents beneath the surface.
Although much of Thalassir remains untouched, scientific expeditions and exploratory fleets have repeatedly attempted to study the planet’s oceans due to unusual energy readings and mineral concentrations detected deep below the seabed. Several expeditions have vanished without explanation within the lower abyssal zones.
The world’s immense oceans also contain rare biological organisms and deep-sea materials valuable for medical, industrial, and scientific research. Because of this, corporations and research groups continue to establish isolated floating facilities across the planet despite the environmental dangers.
Many explorers describe Thalassir as strangely quiet and unsettling, particularly during deep-ocean operations where communication systems frequently malfunction beneath the surface.
