Wyatt Murray

“I can see every way out of this room. So can you. That’s why you’re still sitting down.”

Overview

Wyatt Murray, known as The Crimson Interrogator, is a young human member of The Crimson Order known for his aggressive temperament, portal manipulation, and an unstable rage-driven combat state.

Unlike many members of the Order, Wyatt is neither ancient nor cosmic in origin.

He began life as an ordinary human.

His childhood was permanently changed when his parents were killed during a violent criminal incident carried out for money.

Wyatt survived.

He never forgot the people responsible.

As he grew older, his obsession with finding them increasingly pushed him beyond the limits of the law. He was arrested multiple times during his pursuit and became known for intimidation, assault, and increasingly reckless acts against criminals he believed were connected to the attack.

Eventually, anomalous abilities began to manifest.

The Crimson Order found him before his anger destroyed him completely.

Wyatt joined partly because the Order could help him control his abilities.

He also joined because the Order possessed resources capable of finding people ordinary institutions could not.

Three individuals connected to the deaths of his parents remain alive.

Wyatt still intends to find them.

Appearance

Wyatt appears to be a young human male in his early twenties.

He stands approximately 5’11” and typically wears practical dark clothing or light combat armour marked with limited crimson detailing.

Compared with older members of the Crimson Order, his equipment is relatively simple.

His most recognizable possession is a heavily reinforced baseball bat fitted with large metal spikes around its upper section.

The weapon has been modified using Crimson Order materials and reacts unusually when Wyatt enters an enraged state.

During intense emotional escalation, visible heat can build around Wyatt’s body.

Small flames may appear across his clothing or skin without causing injury.

When his abilities reach their highest output, the air around him can distort from heat.

Personality

Wyatt is confrontational, suspicious, stubborn, and emotionally intense.

He has little patience for people he believes are deliberately hiding information.

His reputation as an interrogator does not come from elaborate torture techniques.

Wyatt is dangerous because he understands pressure.

He reads body language well, notices hesitation, and is extremely good at making people believe that lying to him will only make their situation worse.

Much of his aggression comes from unresolved anger.

Wyatt spent years defining himself around the people who murdered his parents.

Even after joining the Crimson Order, part of him still measures progress by how close he is to finding the remaining individuals responsible.

Despite this, Wyatt is not constantly violent.

Outside high-stress situations, he can be sarcastic, impatient, and surprisingly ordinary.

His problem is not that he is always angry.

His problem is what happens when he becomes angry enough.

The Crimson Interrogator

Wyatt’s official title within the Order is The Crimson Interrogator.

Older accounts occasionally stylize the title as Crimson Interrorgator, a nickname derived from his reputation for using fear during questioning.

Wyatt hates this version of the title.

Joseph does not.

Wyatt is most commonly deployed in situations involving:

  • Interrogation
  • Fugitive recovery
  • Locating hidden individuals
  • Extracting information from hostile groups
  • Recovering stolen objects
  • Pursuing criminals or rogue anomalous figures
  • High-risk field operations

His portal abilities make him particularly effective at preventing escape.

Early Life

Wyatt’s parents were killed when he was young during a violent criminal incident.

The attack was motivated primarily by money.

Wyatt witnessed the event.

The experience defined much of his adolescence and early adulthood.

Rather than allowing the investigation to remain entirely in the hands of law enforcement, Wyatt became increasingly obsessed with identifying everyone involved.

Over time, this obsession turned into a personal pursuit.

He tracked associates.

Followed criminal networks.

Broke into restricted locations.

Threatened suspects.

Assaulted people he believed were protecting those responsible.

He was arrested multiple times.

At one stage, serious charges against him could have resulted in an extremely long sentence.

Before that process was completed, Wyatt disappeared from conventional records.

Not long afterward, sightings associated with the Crimson Order began appearing.

The Remaining Three

Most of the individuals directly involved in the deaths of Wyatt’s parents are now dead, imprisoned, or otherwise accounted for.

Three remain.

Their identities are currently unknown outside Wyatt’s personal records.

He believes all three remain responsible.

Whether this is entirely accurate has never been independently confirmed.

Wyatt refuses to consider the matter closed while they are still alive.

His pursuit of them remains one of his strongest personal motivations.

The Crimson Order has never publicly stated whether it supports his revenge.

Abilities

Portal Creation

Wyatt can generate spatial portals connecting separate locations.

The portals can vary significantly in size and orientation.

Known uses include:

  • Rapid movement
  • Bypassing barriers
  • Preventing escape
  • Redirecting attacks
  • Moving objects
  • Repositioning enemies
  • Creating unexpected attack angles
  • Entering secured locations

Wyatt can create portals rapidly at short range.

Longer distances require more concentration.

He is considerably more accurate when opening portals to locations he knows well or can directly perceive.

Portal Interrogation

Wyatt frequently uses portals during interrogation and intimidation.

Rather than relying purely on physical violence, he can expose a target to environments without actually moving them.

A portal might open behind someone to:

  • A great height
  • A hostile environment
  • An isolated location
  • A burning structure
  • Empty space beyond a station
  • Somewhere associated with the target’s own crimes

Wyatt often uses the threat of relocation rather than relocation itself.

The uncertainty is usually enough.

Crimson Surge

When Wyatt experiences extreme anger, fear, or emotional stress, his body can enter an anomalous state known informally as Crimson Surge.

The transformation is involuntary at first, though Wyatt has gradually learned limited control.

During Crimson Surge, heat and flame erupt around his body.

His physical capabilities increase dramatically.

Known enhancements include:

  • Superhuman strength
  • Extreme short-range speed
  • Heightened reaction time
  • Increased pain tolerance
  • Improved sensory awareness
  • Sharpened visual perception
  • Increased portal speed
  • Increased physical durability

The effect makes Wyatt significantly more dangerous.

It also makes him significantly less rational.

Enhanced Perception

During Crimson Surge, Wyatt experiences a dramatic increase in sensory processing.

Movement appears slower.

Small changes in posture become easier to detect.

He can track multiple targets more effectively and identify potential routes of escape almost immediately.

This often makes him appear tactically brilliant during short engagements.

However, the effect is deceptive.

Wyatt perceives more information.

He does not necessarily make better decisions with it.

Rage Narrowing

As Crimson Surge intensifies, Wyatt’s attention becomes increasingly focused on whatever caused the emotional response.

This is known as Rage Narrowing.

During severe episodes, he may:

  • Ignore wider tactical objectives
  • Continue pursuing a target after withdrawal becomes sensible
  • Fail to notice injured allies
  • Misjudge collateral risk
  • Use excessive force
  • Refuse orders to disengage

His body becomes more capable.

His judgment becomes worse.

This is considered the greatest danger of the ability.

Weapon

Reinforced Spiked Bat

Wyatt’s signature weapon is a heavily reinforced baseball bat fitted with metal spikes.

The weapon began as a crude improvised tool during his life before the Crimson Order.

After joining, it was rebuilt using significantly stronger materials.

Wyatt refused to replace it with something more sophisticated.

He is extremely familiar with its balance and weight.

During Crimson Surge, the weapon reacts to the anomalous energy surrounding him.

Impacts can produce:

  • Incendiary bursts
  • Short explosive shockwaves
  • Increased kinetic force
  • Localized heat damage

The stronger Wyatt’s emotional state becomes, the more destructive these effects can become.

This also makes the weapon harder to control safely.

Combat Style

Wyatt is an aggressive close-range fighter.

He uses portals constantly to manipulate distance and direction.

Rather than approaching an opponent conventionally, Wyatt may:

  • Open a portal beneath himself to appear behind them
  • Swing through one portal and have the weapon emerge from another
  • Redirect projectiles
  • Remove escape routes
  • Drop opponents from unexpected angles
  • Force enemies into enclosed spaces
  • Repeatedly change his attack direction

During normal conditions, Wyatt fights aggressively but strategically.

During Crimson Surge, his combat style becomes dramatically faster and more violent.

Interrogation Methods

Wyatt is feared as an interrogator, but his modern methods rely primarily on intimidation, psychological pressure, and spatial manipulation.

He commonly uses:

  • Silence
  • Sudden portal openings
  • Controlled environmental threats
  • Evidence presentation
  • Aggressive questioning
  • Contradictory statements
  • Isolation
  • Deliberate uncertainty

He is particularly good at making people feel trapped.

Wyatt understands that fear works best when the target fills in the details themselves.

He does not need to explain exactly what he might do.

He only needs to demonstrate that he can.

Limitations

Emotional Trigger

Crimson Surge depends heavily upon Wyatt’s emotional state.

He cannot reliably activate its full strength whenever he wants.

Attempting to force the transformation without genuine emotional escalation produces weaker effects.

Loss of Judgment

The stronger Crimson Surge becomes, the less strategically reliable Wyatt becomes.

This prevents the ability from functioning as a simple power increase.

Physical Exhaustion

Crimson Surge places extreme strain on Wyatt’s body.

After prolonged use, he may experience:

  • Trembling
  • Muscle damage
  • Dehydration
  • Severe fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Temporary sensory sensitivity
  • Difficulty creating stable portals

Portal Range

Wyatt’s portals are most reliable across short and moderate distances.

Long-range travel requires more concentration and preparation.

Unknown destinations are significantly harder to reach safely.

Spatial Interference

Dimensional instability, anomalous barriers, and some ancient technologies can interfere with his portals.

Certain environments may prevent portal creation entirely.

Emotional Manipulation

Because anger directly affects his abilities, opponents capable of manipulating emotion may deliberately attempt to provoke him.

This can increase his power.

It can also make him easier to control.

Wyatt is aware of this weakness.

Awareness does not always help.

Relationship with Aethros

Aethros appears to have approved Wyatt’s entry into the Crimson Order despite his violent history.

The reason remains uncertain.

It is possible Aethros believed Wyatt’s abilities would become dangerous without proper guidance.

It is equally possible that Aethros saw potential in him that Wyatt himself did not.

Wyatt respects Aethros but is not entirely comfortable around him.

Aethros knows more about Wyatt’s abilities than Wyatt does.

Wyatt dislikes this.

Relationship with Ava

Ava is one of the few individuals capable of reliably slowing Wyatt during a severe Crimson Surge.

Her temporal abilities allow her to intervene before his rage escalates beyond control.

Wyatt finds this deeply frustrating.

He also understands why she does it.

Ava generally treats him with more patience than he expects.

Relationship with Joseph

Joseph and Wyatt have an easy but chaotic relationship.

Joseph enjoys deliberately referring to Wyatt as The Crimson Interrorgator.

Wyatt has threatened him over this repeatedly.

Joseph continues doing it.

Their shared tendency toward fire-related collateral damage makes joint deployments questionable.

Relationship with Stanislav

Stanislav has little patience for Wyatt’s lack of emotional discipline.

Stanislav values control above almost everything else.

Wyatt is therefore frequently forced into training exercises designed around restraint rather than combat ability.

He hates these exercises.

They are probably good for him.

Relationship with Crimson Death

Wyatt strongly dislikes Crimson Death.

Both use fear.

Their reasons are entirely different.

Wyatt uses fear as a means of gaining information or controlling a situation.

Crimson Death appears willing to use fear simply because it works.

The distinction matters to Wyatt more than he admits.

Relationship with the Crimson Executor

Crimson Executor understands Wyatt better than many of the older members because both remain fundamentally human.

Executor is considerably more disciplined.

Wyatt is considerably more emotional.

The two occasionally work together when an assignment requires rapid intervention and controlled force.

Executor is also one of the people most likely to physically remove Wyatt from a situation when Crimson Surge begins compromising the mission.

Reputation

Wyatt has one of the more complicated reputations within the Crimson Order.

Some view him as unstable.

Others view him as inexperienced.

Many consider him dangerous.

All three descriptions are probably accurate.

He is young, human, emotionally volatile, and possesses abilities capable of turning anger into extreme physical power.

Yet he is also capable of empathy, loyalty, and restraint.

His future within the Order therefore remains uncertain.

Wyatt could eventually become one of its most effective field operatives.

Or his anger could destroy him first.
